I am glad that all is well and that your pet still has its fur.
Years ago my wife had a cat that decided to crawl into the engine bay of our car. When the engine was started for the drive to work, the cat was caught in the belts and lost about 40% of its fur and skin. Surprisingly the cat survived. Our Vet said it had used up it's nine lives. It took a while for the skin to heal.
So I suppose it's true, there is more than one way to skin a cat.
