Apparently 24 k's or 80000 feet up on this occasion.
And yes, I would think weather balloons would be of interest to CASA. If it is in a flight path of a plane ........not a good thing.....
I think what they might have done is check flight paths, timings etc before they launch.

I would suggest remote areas ( even though that might make recovery of the project difficult) such as Alice Springs, Kalgoorlie, areas in SA, Qld and maybe ( if we could convince them ) Antarctica!

PS. even though we have a kazillion flights a day, the airspace is quite devoid of aircraft ( unless you live in Europe or the US). Similar to the ISS....lotsa debris out there yet they manage to evade destruction....
