The prefered series of capacitors/resitors etc was implemented to give a range of values varying 5% 10% 20% to standardise the range of components
20% range 10,12,15,18,22,27,33,39,47,56,68,82 ,100

I think in the 1950's. This would have been long after Tesla had passed on.

I don't know the Tesla generator but I would assume that the voltage rating would need to be something like that.
