Here's a panorama of the sunrise taken not far west of Roma, QLD on 2nd January 2012 during my drive home from the comet chasing. The photo faces south and is fairly representative of the naked eye views at the time (albeit slightly more saturated).

Technical details: 95 megapixel image (17103 x 5575 pixels) consisting of seven single-exposure (no HDR) panels taken with a Canon 5DmkII and Canon 70-200 mm f/2.8L IS II at 70 mm, 0.6 sec, ISO 100, f/8; stitched and postprocessed using Photoshop CS5.
