Yeah i have considered a webcam, but i'm much more interested in DSO imaging, which i dont think a webcam is suited for.
I actually got to have a play with my friends DSLR last night and was amazed at the image we got of M42. Unfortunately i hadnt set the mount up right so it wasnt guiding too well
It's definitely convinced me that i need at least a DSLR or a CCD
