yes it does seem U.S. foriegn policy does consist of mainly of 'whats in it for us'
But I will be controversial here and say I think a lot of third world problems are borne of localised problems - things we dealt with a long time ago - localised deeply ingrained nepotism and corruption (not that whitey is free of corruption - far from it, but the level of it doesnt interfere with reasonably fair and egalitarian government taking place. secondly we seperated church and state a fair while ago - that has to be also achieved to live in a civilised society imo - these things have to chaange for a progressive state to exist
anyway how do mega-oil rich Saudi's have anything to do with the downtrodden of the world?
