I tried a varient on this problem today. I bougght a double ended 9 pin serial cable and lopped off the redundant end then trimmed the cable to fit the narrow G11 jack. Worked perfectly first time and looks like a OEM cable. Much easier than trying to solder 9 pin serial plugs!
