As some have mentioned, not so much a failed hobbie just transitional ones.

When single.

Astronomy as a teenager - crappy 60mm refractor bought at a chemist (I wish I kept it now).
Anything to do with T-Rex, Marco Bolan. No I didn't dress up in glam rock stuff!
Tropical fish and koi - spent probably $K. I have promised my little boy to build him a pond so I better get the shovel out.
Rocks and minerals - bit nerdy.
CB radios.
Cycling - road/mountain biking.
Electric guitar - nice Yamaha one too! Resided to the fact I have absolutely no rythym whatsoever - nada, zip, none. Will keep guitar for sentimental reasons and pass it down to one of my kids, whomever decides to pick it up.

Married without kids.
Mountain bike riding - bike tyres flat, surface rust everywhere now.
airfix models - Planes mainly. I can't look at them anymore cause they're all in a box with broken bits and pieces and it breaks my heart - and to think I spent labourious hours detailing them!

Present (married, twins).
Astronomy of course - looking forward in getting the kids into it.
Cycling - road and track - for exercise only.
Gardening - thats between a chore and hobbie.
Thinking of taking up AFX cars - wife thinks its a waste of money, she's probably right. But hey most of us are boys at heart.
