Hi Traveller,
Sorry I don't have any of these Tablets but something from your post got me thinking. Apple have done it again when ipod came out it became the generic name almost for all media players. No the same seems to be happening with tablets. It seems to me that Apple lead the way and then the rest of the makes come along. The ipad does have a usb port to connect any apple keyboard so I personally don't see the problem I have tried the ipad that a mate has and I could not fault it at all.

Sometimes you just don't need Apple's iPad dictionary telling you how to spell. The feature can be helpful but sometimes it's not the best at recognizing certain words and proper names, etc.
To turn auto correct off:
1. Navigate to Settings -> General -> Keyboard
2. Touch Auto-Correction -> OFF

And after a quick search on google I found that it can be turned off.
