I usually do the same thing but it's rare to see much real cirrus. Saw some in my M87 & friends image but the relatively poor transparency around here for the past year or more always makes it a long shot.

Dunno - I've assumed it is some kind of artifact but was careful not to process it out just in case
You should shine your astrograph on it under a dark sky to check it out!!
