Actually they come with a tripod so the literature says..also next version up has wedge capabilities anyway

I've never seen one of those before so I can't comment. It looks very gimmicky and rubbish IMHO. I could be wrong, but it looks like a short-cut from a real scope or lens. I would biff that idea and try the conventional approach.
