I am thinking of starting a project that involves observing DSO's that just clear the horizon from Perth (approx 32s). The best I have done so far is M31+M110 which culminlates at 17 degrees. There are two targets in particular that I am interested in bagging. M51 rises 11 degrees above the horizon and the double cluster (NGC869+884) which scraaaapes the horizon venturing only 1 degree into our skies. Any one with any horizon scraping heroics
