Totally clouded out in SA. On a punt we went up to the observatory because the BOM forecast and even Skippy Sky said it would be partly cloudy. Both were totally wrong. We saw some of the partial phase going in and some of it going out, but never once saw the totality phase. I feel sorry for the guys that we dragged out with us. One came 2.5 hours with his son to see the event and to get an image or two. Pretty disappointed for them. I saw the one earlier in the year through high cloud and got some nice images of it; so I was not too fussed.
I am a little miffed at the various weather sites that cannot even predict 8/8 cloud. If super computers cannot predict 6 hours worth of modelling well that says a lot of the science to me.
