Canon Live View Focusing
Hi all,
I use a Canon 1000D for most of my astro photography. I have a little hand held controller for programming my shots, but recently I have been connecting it to my PC and using remote live view for focusing and shooting. It seems to work well although I have only started using this method after putting aside my film cameras (which I will still use but only for special stuff – my Canon is unmodified so no red nebula).
I like the interface however when photographing bright objects in the solar system the live view needs a very slow exposure setting to be visible for focusing. Once focused the setting has to ramped up for the correct exposure. I was shooting the sun yesterday and needed 1/6 to 1/8 for a clear image on the live view for focusing and 1/125 to 1/180 for the actual shot. This meant frequent tedious adjustments of the remote camera control on the PC.
My question is, am I missing something or is this the nature of the beast ?
