Standing on top of a parking area bollard did the trick.
Mid-engine cars can be very "snappy" in the wet...mine has bitten me in the bum on this handling point (no damage other than my foolish pride) and I never want to go there again
I suspect this lesson was not previusly learnt by the Japanese pile-up victims.... such a waste
