About $5K Aus. depending on exchange rate + 10% GST and $50 handling by Customs. Not much change out of $6K Aus. maybe enough to by a Hutech daylight filter so terrestial shots come out properly colour balanced.
I had three choices
1. Get Hutech to modify the 20D approx $700 US with all the hassles of losing warranty and shipping.
2. Buy a 20Da $3200K Aus available locally with Canon warranty.
3. Go for broke (broke being the operative word) and get the new modded 5D from Hutech purely on the available evidence that the noise is less than half than that of a 20D, and pixel size being bigger should have more sensitivity. Hutech also give a one year guarantee.
The fourth possible option was to modify the 20D myself and probably end up ruining a perfectly good camera.
I think I made the only logical choice. The fact that the 5DH performs beyond any expectations makes it even a better choice.
