Nice shot. I've been meaning to attempt to photograph my roses, never done any floral photography before, so have been looking at a lot of images to get ideas.
I think it is the extra detail shown by the darker colour that makes it feel faked. Soften it slightly and lighten up the entire image a bit and it may look more natural.
