Welcome Zephod, you and I are at about the same stage with scopes and decisions I think. You will soon find that the common recommendation is for a "Dob with a gob", the bigger the better. I am just waiting for Andrews Communications to return to work on Monday to order the 10" GSO deluxe, but I'm still undecided about the EP's to get with it.
My 114 newt finally died in the a*** 2 nights ago, the RA gear has worn down to a point where the worm drive has nothing left to grip, so I will convert it into a mini dob or mount it onto my new one to use it as a large finder scope.
