A little food for thought.
At the Ballarat star camp I was able to view Mars through 8", 10" and 12" gso dobs in very good seeing. With each increment in scope size came an increment in visible detail on the planets surface.
In these conditions no 4" refractor could compete. When the seeing is good, aperture rules.
