Sorry to hear that Peter - ie your new ISP not willing to assist you by allowing you to send/receive thru their mailservers even though they are assured that you ARE a customer

The fact that the ADSL provisioning is not completed yet DOES NOT mean that you cannot by other means use their mailservers IF you for example use such as a internet mobile connection dongle!! Of course this "refusal" boils down to their business policy from my point of view (may be incorrect though they might have other reasons!)

Anyway I used to own an ISP business here in Perth and I used to be "co-operative" (or politically correct term is "customer-friendly") to my customers' needs - but then that's me!

Good luck Peter - yeah unfortunately you've gotta wait till Telstra clears "the codes" -(it's only because of red tape that it takes so long!) off your line number before the other ISP can get theirs on for you - YMMV
