It is unbelievable to think that scammers scam approximately $70 million from Australians annually. It is estimated that 5% of the Australian population have been victims of scams annually. Although some scams are quite sophisticated, I find it hard to believe that people still fall for this. It is mentioned in newspapers, online, on current affairs shows and the news regularly, so why are people still falling victim to this?

On 60 Minutes on Sunday night they interviewed a woman who got caught up in a love scam; she handed over $300,000 to someone she never even met, or had no idea who it was; friggin' unbelievable. And she seemed an intelligent woman, no less.

Yes, I know there are many lonely people out there looking for love, I am one of them, but I ain't that gullible.

I do not give out my details to anyone, without knowing who they are and why they need it. I have always shred anything with personal details on, included bills, as I have never thrown anything out in the trash. Many years ago some of my friends thought I was paranoid. It is one of the few times I have been right.

It is a very old adage that "if it seems to good to be true, it usually is". Does no-one heed the old adages anymore

Dr. John Bridges' Defence of the Government of the Church of England, 1587: said that "a fool and his money is soon parted". So, fools must still abound
