Nice one Ian! Yeah, as upper atmosphere features they can appear at any latitude.

There's a selection of my sun dog and ice halo pics on this page if you're interested Ian, along with lots of other 'atmospheric' stuff. I'm a keen watcher & a hazy day is almost as good as a crystal clear one to me. Ahhh, not really, still prefer the crystal clear! Anyway, I've logged heaps of sun dogs from here, but the most startlingly bright one I've ever seen (too intense to look at, like looking at the Sun)... ah, you know the story, didn't have a camera handy. Mostly see them over spring-summer-autumn in hazy skies, but don't see all that many in winter. Cloud when it's around tends to be too thick.
