Fireballs, when they occur, can move through virtually any part of the sky and in any direction, and they can appear to move "slowly".

Furthermore, they can have a variety of interesting colors.

The human perception of slowness or speed is hard to measure accurately, and especially so when a person is confronted with an unexpected and spectacular event.
