Most clubs have a set or 2 of bowls so you can give it a go without cost. I did it this way and ended up buying a set of bowls.

I loved to watch lawn bowling on ABC every weekend my friends thought i was nuts since im only 16... what do they know? not really a sports guy tho when it comes to actually doing it. I still love the sport, just too damned lazy i guess haha. Thanks for the suggest
