DxO software

I was reading through the Ken Rockwell site and although I find him to be a bit of a voice in the wilderness with his opinions sometimes, he recommended optics corrections software from DxO so I am giving the trial a bit of a go.

It is pretty resource intensive, so forget about watching a movie or browsing while it is doing its thing, but early results appear to be promising.

Attached are two centre crops (daytime and nighttime) from roughly the same position taken at 12800 iso before and after processing. The noise reduction is very good - I did not change anything from the default settings, pretty much just loaded the pics and hit go.

Apparently it can also take care of vignetting, which if true, would suit me as I could eliminate the processing phase of daytime shots and greatly reduce that of nighttime shots (no darks or flats).

Anyway, just thought I'd post it in case anyone else is interested.
