Thanks Eric. The alerts come out through space weather if you are subscribed. I also just open up first thing in the morning on Space weather and read the call up for images. So I just got out there and did the capture.
I have submitted this to Space weather but and will have another go at APOD. I submit regularly to it and have never got an APOD yet. Not that really matters, it is the doing that is fun.
We don't have a national solar observatory, perhaps we could get funding for it from the Carbon tax we are about to get clobbered with.
