Hey Paul, That's a spectacular catch! Really a great looking image with excellent processing! I really like your style of presenting the images. You should send it to Spaceweather.com and/or APOD. That flare sure make its worthy.
Where do you get your alerts?
Interestingly, the National Solar Observatory (along with Apache Point and the Sloan Digital Survey) is only about 2 hours from where I live. Been there a couple times.
