Detail was the main aim, but M16 spire really was noisy (specially blue, the subs were really shocking). Its a lot dimmer that the towers. A few beers during processing didnt help the colour much either, and in the end the more I fiddled the worse it got. Once you zoom in that much, processing methods change quite a bit, PS sharpening gets very weird. Star tools takes off where PS simply stops working at all, very handy, but needs extreme settings and ofcourse artifacts quickly become overwhelming.
Huge decon in CCD stack was the key, but needed lots and lots of 3nm Ha data.
