Cheapish Backup Server.

The boy child got hold of a HP micro server this week and it's a wee ripper. It comes with a 250gig HD but has slots for 4 sata drives and can do Raid 0&1 but no raid 5 unless you install linux and software raid it. The CPU is an AMD Neo N36L which is a dual core 1.3gig amd version of the atom. It has 1gig of standard DDR3 ram but has 2 slots and can take 8gig max. Here's some quick specs.

They are almost giving them away at sub $200 prices, if you can find one. With a little fiddling, you could load it up with ram and hard drives, install linux or maybe some sort of NAS software and you have a niffty little network backup device. He currently has it booting off a usb stick running some sort of NAS operating system.

Oh, no DVD drive in the box, you'd have to add that if you wanted it. Also it's a low power device, the power supply is only 150watt.
