Thanks Andrew. I didn't take any shots without the filter, but I imagine the shots would be much brighter, especially if I used the same exposure.

It allowed me to take a longer exposure to get the water blurring without overexposing.
With my old digicam (which had limited f/stops) I could only do a couple of seconds before it was overexposed.
