Thanks for the comments. As requested, these are my steps:
- 1) Load .CR2 light and dark files into DSS. I as yet haven't done any flat or offset/bias files
- Register pictures, adjusting star detection threshold to get around 50 stars. I'm not sure exactly how many is necessary. Some say 15, others say 50 or <100
- I use mosaic mode and median for lights. I don't select anything in the cosmetic tab
- Click ok to start the registering and stacking.
- This gives me a dark "grey" file
- This is where I have been told to line up the RGB histogram towards the left 1/3 and then increase saturation to around 20%
- I have also been told I can simply save the registered/stacked file as a TIF file and process it in PS.
- If I do it this way, I follow the instructions in this youtube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnPII6YdVBc
- In addition to following these instructions, I have increased the saturation in PS
That's all I have been doing at the moment so any advice would be great
