Ok that sort of goes with what I was going some time ago when I did an exposure for the proms and then one for the surface detail. Perhaps I will do that again. It worked before, I can do it again.
However, in principle the unscrewing of the filter should be safe with an internal etalon in place? The merits of whether it will produce better results is not an issue really just whether it can be done.
