I'd disagree with your reliable source.
I leave my double stack system in place as I have found no gains in a wider band-pass.
You can go down two paths, expose longer and layer two lots of data
or
use a neutral gamma and process the same data in layers. Maybe I should give a paper on this in 2012's AAIC
