That's how I gauge the seeing too, since moving to Newcastle area from Canberra, the seeing here pales, at mums place in New Lambton I have not seen a night of good seeing, average'sh perhaps but not good, most nights are pretty soft and bubbly. I was concerned it was tube currents or boundary layers in the new scope but the ED80 guide scope at 1200mm FL concurs, I call the effect pom pom seeing ie fuzzy balls dancing all over the place changing size.

It was better out at Thornton when we moved here in 07 but where I image from outside Kurri even it is crap to average most nights but I have had a couple of nights of good seeing out there at least...
