Brighter than a thousand suns

The Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee was built in 1943 as part
of the Manhattan Project to produce fissionable quantities of uranium and
plutonium for the A-bombs.

The associated consortium of universities known as ORAU - Oak Ridge
Associated Universities - houses a museum of radioactive quack cures
which you can find out more about here -
http://www.orau.org/ptp/collection/q...quackcures.htm

For example, you can find a picture of the packaging and advertisement
for Vita Radium Suppositories, which were manufactured in the 1930's, here -
http://www.orau.org/ptp/collection/q...res/radsup.htm

Brings new meaning to the term "radioactive pile".
