Just joined this community so I thought I would introduce myself.
My name is Greg and I live on a rural property near Wagga Wagga, NSW. I have always had a love of photography, but a playful experiment one night with a long exposure opened my eyes to the world of astrophotography. I thought to myself what would happen if I put the ISO at it's maximum and opened the aperture at it's widest and held the shutter open for a long time. Could I catch a few stars? By a lucky co-incidence I had the camera pointed at the central bulge of the Milky Way, and the resulting pic instantly blew my mind. I was hooked straight away.
I started to digest as much as possible about astrophotography. Experimented with fixed tripod moon shoots, star trails and static star fields; eventually building myself a barndoor tracker for long exposure work. It was inevitable that I would eventually take the plunge and buy myself a proper astrophotography setup. So a few months ago after much researching, I travelled down to Melbourne and purchased/ordered what I wanted.
I run a 10" F/4 Newtonian on a NEQ6 Pro Goto Mount, with a Synguider Autoguider on an Orion 80mm Shorttube Guidescope. I use my old Canon EOS 1000D (unmodified) to attach to the scope, and my new Canon EOS 60D with a variety of lens's piggyback mounted.
I am here to improve my astrophotography as much as I can, by hopefully learning off this great community.
