It was a lesson in making sure each panel has the same exposure time for me. Perhaps there are times when you can get away with different exposure times but this wasn't one of them.
Another problem with mosaics with long focal length is different seeing levels on different nights.
It all makes mosaics just that much harder to do.
Photoshop CS4 and above make mosaics though relatively easy. Just process each panel the same way and let Photoshop stitch it then perhaps a few stuble tweaks - especially correcting any gradients.
This was not done with luminance then RGB separately but rather 2 images processed the same way then stitched. It may not be a good way for a large panel mosaic though and I'll use the luminance layer as one mosaic then match the rgb to it approach.
A few gradient removal techniques will help a lot. There are several.
