Full technical specs are available from the Celestron website, but basically this is a 640x480 resolution colour USB web cam, but with higher sensitivity lower noise HAD CCD sensor rather than the usual CMOS in budget webcams. It has a 1.25" nosepiece which simply inserts where the eyepiece would normally go, and is threaded to accept filters.
I found this is an excellent start to colour webcam imaging. I have used this camera to get good images of:
- sunspots and faculae on the Sun,
- craters on the Moon,
- phases of Venus,
- polar caps and surface detail on Mars,
- cloud bands and satellite transits on Jupiter, and
- the recent storm on Saturn.
Below are some of the images I have taken with THIS camera. Note, some of them were taken with a 2x barlow (not included, but you will want one of those for higher magnification).
Still not too late to catch the current apparition of Saturn, and be ready for the upcoming Jupiter season!
