I could easily split Eta Orionis the previous night which was the tightest group while doing a tour of doubles . Etas componets are seperasted by 1.7 arc seconds but both are nearly of equal brightness , Rigel with a seperation of 9.4 would appear to be fairly easy in comparsion but the bright primary at 0.3 mag dominates the fainter 6.8 secondary . With Sirius at a intense -1.46 mag and companion at a mag 8.5 its a tough task sighting it visually , i had no luck . Nice work there John
