This problem has been resolved. It did turn out to be the fact that the lugs on the filter did not protrude sufficiently far enough to ensure a snug fit into the camera body. I took it back to the place of purchase and let them adjust the lug (I wasn't game enough to try it). It now fits nice and tight. This approach was also consistent with an email that I received from Astronomik following an email support enquiry that I sent to them.
