Robin with faint stuff I have been using median on the RGB which is binned 2x2 the my lum which is 1x1 I am generally doing summed with long deep subs. 20 minutes or so is the best bet on dim objects. It might not suit each persons setup though because of mount issues or light pollution. However, I find for my location I can go quite deep without causing any real issues.
