I like to be well represented across the telescope spectrum. I have a Newtonian, and now a refractor.
I have to physically restrain myself from going for the hat trick and getting a Catadioptric of some description.
I'm seeing brand new Celestron C6, C8 and even C9.25 with GOTO at ridiculous prices.
Every time an Intes Mak comes up second hand in the classifieds, I have to remind myself that I just spent a significant sum on my refractor, which I haven't really put to the test yet (or the dob for that matter due to getting clouded out whenever I go to my dark sky site). I keep reading the review by Jay Reynolds Freeman on these little Maks, and it's a struggle not to buy one, let me tell you.
a goto SCT or Mak appeals because I can get pretty close (or even equal to) my dob in aperture, but folded into a smaller package (to an extent), and I haven't had a GOTO system yet.
I wonder if I could get a C8 or 9.25 and tell my girlfriend that my dob and refractor mated...
