Great Seeing from Coastal Sydney
Hi All
Sorry I've not had a chance to pop my head in the door of late. Can't believe how bad the weather has been since I got back from Coonabarabran. Very few clear nights since then but tonight was simply superb in terms of seeing on the coast here despite the annoying fluffy clouds here and there around midnight.
I certainly hope someone was imaging Saturn because the seeing in the wee hours of the morning was definitely sub-arc second. I only wish I'd set up for it myself but spent the entire night (yes it's now 4am) testing gear. Even with the 102 refractor, Saturn was as sharp as one could hope for at 225x power. Couldn't believe how crisp the view was.
When the Moon was low in the west and covered by thick cloud, the Tarantula and Orion Nebs were simply awesome not to mention the Homunculus at 500x with the 10-inch! Very distracting sights even from suburban Sydneywhen conditions are right.
