I think some times after a good rain, it seems to allow a bit more penetration into nebulas and dusky galaxies.... sometimes not so good for the star scintillation or for the dewy optics though!

I think you are correct and the dew that night was horrendous. Luckily I was in my observatory but it was still dewing up inside to some degree.
