The orange colours represent metal-poor basalt.

The purple and blue colours represent metal-rich basalt, the difference between the two being that the blue has >7% titanium, whereas the purple is >3%. In each case, iron is >15%. (percentages by weight)

Looking at Scott's image, the big blue area is the Sea of Tranquility.
