I will admit to having been a fan all of my life (I was not around when it started (Cough))

The current generation of the series is undoubtably far better produced than the original and I think that it has lost some of its appeal as a result, but a program produced like it was in the 60's 70's and 80's would die a quick death I think.

I reckon that they still occasionally show some real brilliance and it is usually in what you would call a "low budget" episode. To my mind the two best episodes ever produced were "Blink" and "Midnight" SFX light and making use of fairly sinister baddies without any actual violence!
