Can I suggest that you run that camera at ISO400 - I found the noise to be more acceptable at that rather than ISO800 or higher. The discussions about what ISO setting to use with DSLRs are about as clear as arguments for and against the legalisation of marijuana!
The images in the gallery link that I sent you were usually 10-15subs of up to ~7.5mins. Having the AC adaptor means a little less heat from the battery, so you can push the sub duration a bit longer.
Hope you get all the bugs ironed out before the Winter imaging season arrives properly!
