I think trying to explain the "thing" in a few lines is beyond the scope of the General Chat forum and the Science forum.

I can't comment on the video due to my ultra slow dial up.
If Cox is an experimental particle physicist he will definitely understand the diagrams. Even for theoretical particle physicists the maths is extremely complicated which is why the diagrams were developed in the first place.
