Hair dryers, got one!
A few weeks ago I posted a query to find who in Melbourne sells 12 volt hair dryers. After some (actually more than a dozen) calls and waiting for them to arrive, Carac in Dandenong now have some in stock. I haven't had a chance to use mine yet, but at least I have one. So if you are looking for a hint for Christmas, you could add one to your list. Cost I believe was $22 (I got an early Christmas present).
It appears to draw about 0.5A with just the fan and about 10A with the heater on, so I recommend getting an extra jump start battery to run it off..now there's another idea for Christmas too.
