I'm not even goint to try and define a top 3, just throw three more names onto the list.

  1. Won't Get Fooled Again - The Who on Who's Next (since the album was mentioned).
  2. Kontact - Peter Gabriel on Peter Gabriel IV (German version)
  3. 21st Century Schizoid Man - King Crimson on In the Court of the Crimson King (but is it rock?)
  4. Baby's On Fire - Brian Eno on Here Come the Warm Jets (Rolling Stone magazine once voted this as having the archtypical 1970's guitar solo).

Ric, I love Heavy Horses but what about Journeyman or No Lullaby from that album, plus most of Songs from the Wood?
